You might, or more possibly not, remember the day when I published the post Broken Doors. It may sound like a movie title but no, it was for real. One door of our wardrobe fell from its hinges and has since been standing against the wall for two months!
Obviously we contacted our landlord many times but it was clear that they were not going to do anything since they had better things to do. We contacted our agent, who was the man trying to get in contact with the landlord, and he recommended two or three handymen that could come over and fix it. So we called. After two-three weeks he came over to have a look at it and said he would return once he had found some friends that could help him get it up.
We did not hear from him over a week. When John finally got a hold of him he said he could not help us.
Then it went back and forth for a while with the agent trying to get in contact with the landlord and John trying to get a handyman over. It appeared to be very difficult, which was something new for us who used to live in Sweden where handymen just came over to do their job instead of ditching in the middle of it (I am looking at you Handyman #1).
Today they came! John has been in contact with these two men for over a week and been trying to book a date and time. Strange thing is that when you call someone in this country they expect you to be available to receive you immediately. Not going to happen. John called this afternoon and managed to book seven o'clock tonight. He left work early to be able to finish dinner before they arrived.
And so, we have a functional wardrobe again. Problem was that one of the wheels was broken, low-quality stuff, and they fixed it. Now the other door makes a strange sound and the handyman said he believed it would stay put for a long while but eventually it would break to.
Now we will just wait for that to happen.
Oh, but do you not miss seeing all those colourful clothes?
