End of weekend

Good evening.

The plan for today was to go to Marina Bay. Perhaps you know the place:

We did not do that, but I give you the picture from Google anyway. One day I will be in the actual shot and I am living in this city, just a bit further away.

Instead we took a slow day since yesterday was an adventure. We got out of bed around lunch-time and were really slow to get out of the door. We had looked up a food court and a possible grocery store twenty minutes away. We went past all the big brands in the car industry and drooled over some pretty sexy beauties. It almost started to rain during the walk, a few drops came down and dark clouds were overhead, but no rain.

The food court was large and cheap. We ate chopped chicken and rice for 3$ each (18kr) and realised we were the only Europeans there. The elderly looked at us curiously, but other than that I think we managed to look like we fit in (almost). The store we were looking  for was a Giant Express, a much smaller place than the huge three story building we found at the mall the other day. Unfortunately it was a disappointment, only local products and nothing we needed.

Headed back home. The air was humid and sweat was streaming down. The clouds were gone and it felt more difficult to walk home than walk there. When we were almost home John had to sit down in the shadows, just to breathe and drink some water we bought to survive the walk.

Before we went up we really needed some essentials, so we passed our building and bought them in the mall very close to our house. Back home again we collapsed in the sofa and took a moment to just breathe and relax. It was five o'clock when we made ourselves ready for the gym. It was taken when we got up there, so we waited an hour and then we could do some cardio.

While John took the bike and I used the cross trainer we listened to a Swedish podcast. It is nice to hear some other familiar voices. When we were done we changed into swim suits we had brought with us and jumped in the pool. The sun was gone but the water was obviously still warm and it was relaxing to just float for a bit. We tried to get the jacuzzi working but did not manage. After a while we got hungry so we went back down to order something online. We could not; no local phone number. Instead we put on some clothes and went back to the mall.

We steered our steps towards KFC, but got lost and somehow bought two pair of shorts for John. Orange and purple, looked really good. Bought a cheap dinner and brought it back home. Ate it in front of the TV while watching the end of a movie we started yesterday. We then proceeded the evening gaming and talking.

Tomorrow we are going to the Ministry of Manpower! It does sound awesome, but it is really boring and we are only going there to get our finished visas. I will update you tomorrow night.
