A day with Two

Today was a recovery-day. Annika and Thomas needed extra sleep to help with the jetlag and so I sat by the computer quietly working on my book until lunchtime. I then convinced them to take the MRT to Holland Village, even though they knew it would not take long to walk. I was too hungry for that. We browsed the outside of a couple of restaurants and finally settled for ThaiExpress.

I had never been there before. John had and he did not like it. Too be honest I did not like it very much either. Both Annika and Thomas seemed to though, probably because of their choice in food. I was daring and ordered their soft-shell crab and the crab was good, but the huge amount of condiments were not, as you see in the picture the crab is not even visible. I did not eat much. Annika chose a set-meal and her dessert was strange red water chestnuts in sweet coconut milk. It did not taste much, apart from the coconut milk.

While we ate the rain started pouring down like it only does in the tropics. We sat indoors looking out, eating slowly so that it would be gone by the time we wanted to go home. It only lasted half an hour. Afterwards we went inside the upstairs mall and found all these small and peculiar stores. We found Lego in a store that, apart from the Lego, only sold antiques; dusty dolls, clocks, chinaware and so on.

After a quick loop we exited and walked back. When John came home we ordered Indian food online. While waiting for dinner we started a board game called Eldritch Horror (a birthday present to me from John). We managed to start the game just when the food arrived at the door. Since the dining table was taken we ate in the sofa. Then continued playing.

The game was so much fun! We chose four characters that seemed to match in abilities. Thomas a fighter, John a spell-caster, Annika support and my character was a "gate closer" (different kind of fighter). We played for hours and yet did not finish the game. When it got too late, since the parents was still jet-lagged, we put a towel on top of the board to keep everything roughly at the same place. Ymir was quick to get up there and mess things up, but I took some photos to really remember the positions.
